Dr. Owan is appointed to faculty as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine. His primary clinical affiliation is with interventional cardiology.
Dr Owan’s Academic and Research interests are in Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction, Obesity and The Heart, and Invasive Cardiovascular Hemodynamics. Dr. Owan was a finalist at the North Western Cardiovascular Young Investigator Forum in 2007, and was recently awarded the JACC PARMLEY PRIZE Runner UP for 2011. He received his MD degree from the University of Calabar in Nigeria, residency training at Mount Sinai School of Medicine affiliated program in NY, Internal Medicine and research fellowships, and Master of Science in Biomedical Research (Clinical) at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine Rochester, MN and his General & Interventional Cardiology fellowships at the University Of Utah School of Medicine, Salt Lake City.
